Saturday, 25th October - ICEBREAKING DAY

Saturday, 25th October was the very first day of activities of our youth exchange „Connecting through Science“, in which six countries were involved: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia and the Netherlands.

At first, we have played a lot of name- and get-to-know-each-other games that were very exciting for all of us. One of these games where we stood in the circle and each one of us said their names and made a signature movement. Then the person next to the previous one had to repeat both all of the previously said names as well as their signature movements. The most difficult task was for the last person in the circle – he or she had to repeat all the names and movements! This and other activities were very efficient so most of the participants learnt each other´s names the very first day.

The next task for the organizers was to introduce the whole programme to participants and after this introduction there was time for more activities! The non-formal and informal education was also introduced.

International teams were created for the next activity that consisted of four tasks or zones. The first one was an artistic one where everybody created their own badges with his or her name. Everybody was really happy to have this lovely badge. The second task was to debate about whatever the participants wanted, the third zone was relaxing and the fourth was creative again – everybody created his or her own envelope with their name on it which we later used for the Secret friend game.

“Expectations, desires, fears and contributions” was the next activity that could not be missing! With connection to the topic of our youth exchange participants used chromosomes for this activity and into these chromosomes theywrote their expectations, desires, fears and contributions.

Setting the rules was the next extremely important activity and these rules were set by the participants themselves in international groups. Organizers later on put all the rules together and added some technical stuff and behaviour at the pension and Spa Lednice.

Afternoon activity: Mission impossible! Participants were wondering around the beautiful surrounding of the town of Lednice and fulfilling individual tasks. 

Intercultural night was an amazing event where all the nations introduced their food, drinks and interesting facts about their countries. Every nation had a table decorated with their flag and everybody had a chance to make their performance more interesting by singing a song, dancing or telling us their national traditions.

During the first day we could observe the initiation of “ice breaking” and disruption of a group of individuals from different countries and connection into one international group. Some individuals felt closer to each other, made new friendships based on the same interests or attitudes. Participants realized that in multicultural society they always can find somebody who will be on the same wavelength.


Sobota, 25. října - ICEBREAKING DAY

Sobota 25. října, den, kterým začínal celý program našeho projektu Connecting through Science, jehož se účastnilo šest zemí: Česká republika, Slovensko, Slovinsko, Chorvatsko, Estonsko a Holandsko.

Den jsme začali spoustou zábavných seznamovacích her. Jedna z nich byla, když se účastníci seskupili do kruhu, a úkolem bylo, aby každý předvedl jednoduchý pohyb poté, co vyslovil svoje jméno. Poslední účastník měl nejtěžší úkol, musel říci postupně jména všech a nezapomenout připojit správný pohyby ke správnému jménu. Tyto a další aktivity byly velice účinné, a tak si téměř každý zapamatoval hned první den většinu jmen zúčastněných. 

Dalším úkolem pro organizátory bylo obeznámit účastníky s programem a náplní celého týdne a také s pojmy neformální a informální vzdělávání. Po tomto úvodu jsme se pustili do dalších aktivit!

Pro další aktivitu byly vytvořeny mezinárodní týmy, které se postupně měnily na čtyřech stanovištích. První stanoviště bylo výtvarné, kde si každý v rámci své kreativity vytvořil svůj odznak (svoji placku) se svým jménem. Na každém bylo vidět, že má radost z tohoto originálního výrobku. Na druhém stanovišti mohli účastníci debatovat o jakémkoliv tématu, třetí zóna byla relaxační a čtvrtá zóna byla opět kreativní – kde si každý podle vlastního vkusu vyrobil obálku se svým jménem, která byla později použita k oblíbené hře Secret friend.

Expectations, desires, fears and contributions byla další aktivitou, která nesměla chybět. Ve spojení s tématem projektu účastníci svá očekávání, tužby, strach a příspěvky vpisovali do před-tištěného chromozomu. 

Další důležitou aktivitou bylo stanovení pravidel, která si účastníci určili sami ve skupinkách. Závěrečné zhodnocení bylo na poté organizátorech, s přidáním ještě menších technických věcí ohledně chování a řádu na penzionu i na samotných lázních Lednice, kde probíhala většina aktivit projektu.

Odpolední aktivitou byla Mission impossible, kdy účastníci blíže poznávali okolí Lednice a plnili zde jednotlivé úkoly.

Večer byl ve znamení Intercultural night – kde jednotlivé národy představily své pochutiny, pití a uvedli zajímavosti o své zemi. Každý národ měl svůj připravený stůl ozdobený vlajkou a všichni měli možnost svou prezentaci oživit tradičními písněmi, tanci a zvyky.

Během prvního dne aktivit došlo k počátkům "prolomení ledů" a narušení jakési skupiny jednotlivců zúčastněných zemí a spojení v jeden mezinárodní celek. Došlo ke sblížení mezi jednotlivými účastníky, navázání přátelství osob podobných zájmů postojů či aktivit a zjištění, že v multikulturní společnosti se dá najít vždy někdo, s kým budeme naladěni na "stejnou vlnu".
